MINUTES OF ST.JOACHIM PARISH COUNCIL MEETING-APRIL 5,2016
The Parish Council met on April 5, 2016.
Those in attendance were: Father Datillo, Joyce Politte, Carolyn Politte, Bill Portell, John Coleman, Georgia Veach, Reuben Lawson, Carmen Litton and Vicki Thurmond.
The meeting was called to order by Reuben Lawson.
An opening prayer was offered by the Parish Council.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved by Bill Portell and seconded by Carolyn Portell.
Study: The third lesson from Mercy in Motion was presented by Joyce Politte and discussion was held by members of the Parish Council.
Pastor's Report: Father Datillo expressed his appreciation to volunteers who are repairing the roofs on Parish buildings. There will be a pilgrimage to Perryville to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. Mass will be held there and a lunch will be prepared for the group at Apple Creek. The trip will be on May 12th. The group will leave St. Joachim at 9:00 a.m. And return by 5:00 p.m. Tom and Vicki Haynes will be chairmen of the ACA this year. St. Joachim will receive $116,000.00 from ACA next year. St. Joachim Parish has $48000.00 pledged so far for the Beyond Sunday campaign. Confirmation for our students will be Saturday at the Cathedral. In 2023 St. Joachim Parish will celebrate it's 250 year anniversary , also Old Mines will celebrate it's 300th anniversary. Father would like to plan a big Parish celebration to commemorate these special dates.

Knights of Columbus: Bill Portell expressed thanks for all the donations and labor for the roofing projects. Ed Coleman will not be able to replace the roof on the Incarnate Word Center as he had planned. Bill Portell made a motion to pay Paul Coleman $900.00 to replace the roof on the center. He has already donated labor for three previous roofs. Carolyn Politte seconded the motion. Bill will ask the Knights of Columbus for funds to help pay for labor. Roger and Becky Johnson have donated a quarter of a beef for a special raffle to raise funds for Knights for Neighbors. On May 15th a barbecue and car wash will be held by the Knights for Neighbors organization from 10:30 till 3:00. Bill also made a motion to remove the large tree next to the school building, Reuben Lawson seconded the motion.
St. Ann Sodality: No representative was present. However, Carmen Litton stated that the organization has donated $1000.00 to the roof repair fund for the school.

Parish Workers: Natalie was not in attendance.
Youth The Stubenville trip is July 8-10. Nine students and 4 adults are attending. They will need another fund raiser before the trip. Vicki would like to plan a retreat for the middle school students.

New Business: Welcome new Parish Council member John Coleman. ACA begins April 16th. Mary Ann Pratt presented a new idea for the raffle at the fall festival. Bill Portell made a motion and Carolyn Politte seconded that we look into this suggestion further and implement it into our main raffle.
